Harms Marionettes
Enjoy the ancient art of marionette theater featuring hand-carved wooden marionettes from master puppeteer Don Harms. His most recent production is the story of Pinocchio, a living puppet that becomes a real boy.
As a teenager Don Harms was familiar with the marionette companies touring the midwest in the 50s. He copied the methods that had been popularized in America by Tony Sarg and his associates. In the sixties Harms studied theater and art at the University of Michigan. In the seventies in Austin, through additional research and experimenting, he formed the Harms Marionettes. This marionette theater has been touring Texas for over a decade, both in larger city art centers and small towns.
Program recommended for ages 5 and over.
